Pinellas County Economic Development Announces Director Dr. Cynthia Johnson Elected to the Board of Directors of the International Economic Development Council

Pinellas County Economic Development is pleased to announce that its Director, Dr. Cynthia Johnson, has been elected to the Board of Directors of the International Economic Development Council (IEDC) following a majority vote by the full Board at IEDC’s 2024 Annual Conference. 

Johnson will join IEDC’s Board of Directors starting January 1, 2025 for a two-year term. The Board is composed of 55 voting members whose duty it is to serve as stewards of IEDC’s vision, mission, values, and resources. Board members are experienced leaders in the economic development field and are dedicated to IEDC and the economic development profession. All board members must be members of IEDC and a majority of the board must be members who represent public economic development agencies or non-profit economic development organizations.

This significant election to the Board underscores Johnson’s dedication and expertise in the field of economic development. As a member of the IEDC Board of Directors, Johnson will collaborate with other esteemed leaders in the field to shape policies and strategies that support economic development initiatives globally. Johnson brings to the IEDC Board over 23 years of experience in economic development and more than 26 years of leadership training and development. As an economic development practitioner, trainer, mentor, and educator, she has supported hundreds of individuals with the creation, retention, and expansion of their businesses.  She specializes in partner relations, federal and state grants management and compliance, business and strategic planning, entrepreneurial development, finance, and small business innovation.
